Ejiofor plays Mike Terry, a man who runs his own Jiu-jitsu studio in Los Angeles.

Terry's business is failing, causing tension between him and his wife, Sondra (Alice Braga). But their lives change drastically when Terry is compelled to come to the aid of an actor, Chet Frank (Tim Allen), during a bar fight.

Chiwetel Ejiofor's career is one I've been following closely. He never disappoints on-screen with his performances. His roles are always carefully chosen and perfect for him. Redbelt is no exception.

In recent years I've been occasionally watching and enjoying K1 mixed martial arts events. K1 has been predominately based in Asia, whilst in the western world there is organisations such as "Pride" and "UFC".

The way in this story was told reminded me so much of those old Ronin traditional warrior films. I felt an influence from Kurosawa's Seven Samurai and resemblances to, Takeshi Kitano's Zatoichi and Yôji Yamada's Twilight Samurai.

When I discovered David Mamet's involvement as writer and director, everything started to make sense as to why this film is so good. Mamet's work in the industry is nothing short of genius. He wrote the screenplay for one of my all time favourites, "Glengarry Glen Ross".

I loved Redbelt and have watched it many times over. It's one I've recommended to many of my friends. Im sure I will revisit this review and add more to it the next time I have finished watching it again.
