I had my doubts and scepticism about this film from the reviews I read and friends opinion.

However, having seen the film for myself I can safely say it was a great viewing experience. I believe my enjoyment was largely attributed to the knowledge base that I already have surrounding X-Men and the "Marvel Universe".

I don't believe a casual viewer could have enjoyed this film as much - hence the poor reviews it has received so far. In this way, I liken it to the Harry Potter series. I've not read a single Harry Potter book and perhaps this is the reason why I've found all the films from that franchise to be utter shite.

By no means am I an avid comic book reader/collector. But I did watch a great bulk of the original X-Men cartoon series (not that new generation crap) and the previous X-Men trilogy of films.

I particularly liked how, (for me) many questions were answered and revelations brought to light.

The film was well directed and the casting was spot on. I particularly liked how many times I was pointing out 'good actors' from popular TV series. Namely; Lost, Friday Night Lights, 24, and others.
I even was able to tolerate, Will.I.Am's on-screen presence.

To my understanding there is scheduled to be a Magneto Origins. If they continue the same way they did with Wolverine Origins, im sure it's going to be a great success.
